The Mousehole Cat

A heartwarming tale of friendship between a fearless fisherman and his cat featuring live traditional Cornish music, puppetry and live action.

Based on a well-known Cornish legend, this heartwarming story of the friendship between a fearless fisherman and his devoted cat will warm the cockles of everyone’s hearts... almost as much as an ‘efty portion of stargazy pie!

Antonia Barber’s children’s book The Mousehole Cat tells the tale of Mowzer, a cat from the quintessentially Cornish fishing village of Mousehole. As a relentless storm forces the villagers into starvation Mowzer and her fisherman Tom Bawcock take it upon themselves to brave The Great Storm Cat and save the their village.

Written by the award-winning Cornish playwright Alan M Kent The Mousehole Cat fuses a blend of live traditional Cornish music, puppetry and live action. Whilst being faithful to the story told in the much-loved 90s children book the show has a modern, rustic aesthetic with a strong sense of Cornish folklore and community spirit.
